Moyo is seeking a highly skilled Mid-Level Control & Instrumentation Engineer to drive engineering excellence across mining and processing plant operations. This position plays a crucial role in designing, developing, implementing, and optimising control systems that support safe, efficient plant performance.

The role requires a technically strong engineer who can manage complex projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and execute solutions that align with engineering standards, operational requirements, and Moyo’s culture of reliability, accountability, and impact.

Role Purpose

The Mid-Level C&I Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining control and instrumentation systems across complex mining and processing environments. The engineer will also oversee installation and commissioning activities while ensuring plant safety, operational readiness, and compliance with international engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

• Prepare detailed C&I system designs including P&IDs, control philosophies, and system architectures.

• Select appropriate instrumentation based on project and plant requirements.

• Ensure designs and installations comply with ISA, IEC, IEEE, and safety guidelines.

• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams to align control strategies with overall plant design.

Installation, Testing & Commissioning

• Manage and supervise installation of instruments, PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, drives, and related equipment.

• Conduct system tests, calibrations, and acceptance checks.

• Troubleshoot functional and performance issues during commissioning.

• Ensure all installation work aligns with specification, quality standards, and project deadlines.

Maintenance, Monitoring & Optimisation

• Develop preventive maintenance schedules for all C&I assets.

• Analyse system performance data to identify improvements or potential failures.

• Recommend plant optimisation strategies based on real-time data and trends.

• Guide operations teams on system usage and troubleshooting.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Conduct C&I risk assessments and implement corrective measures.

• Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and compliance reviews.

• Ensure all C&I processes meet environmental, safety, and statutory requirements.

Project Leadership

• Oversee multi-disciplinary engineering projects ensuring timelines, deliverables, and budgets are met.

• Prepare project documentation, progress reports, and technical assessments.

• Collaborate with project managers to maintain quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.

• Strong understanding of PLCs, DCS, SCADA, variable speed drives, instrumentation networks, and industrial communication protocols.

• 8–10 years C&I engineering experience, preferably in mining/processing plants.

• Knowledge of system standards: ISA, IEC, IEEE.

• Proven experience delivering large-scale C&I projects.
