The Role: Civil Engineering Intern
SRK Consulting is offering a 12-month Internship in the Water Civils Department at our Johannesburg office. This internship is designed for graduates with a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering who have a keen interest in water and environmental engineering. As an intern, you will gain invaluable hands-on experience by assisting our Principal and Senior consultants on a variety of challenging and exciting projects.
This internship provides you with the opportunity to develop both technical skills and professional experience while working alongside a team of experts.
Key Responsibilities:
- ✔️ Project Support: Assist with the design, development, and implementation of civil engineering projects, particularly in the water and environmental sectors.
- ✔️ Collaboration: Work closely with senior engineers to support and contribute to diverse engineering projects across multiple disciplines.
- ✔️ Research and Analysis: Contribute to research and provide technical analysis for ongoing projects.
- ✔️ Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites for fieldwork and hands-on experience.
- ✔️ Teamwork: Demonstrate excellent collaboration skills by working in teams and providing support where necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
- ✔️ Degree/Diploma: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- ✔️ Interest in Water & Environmental Engineering: Strong desire to pursue a career in the civil, water, and environmental sectors.
- ✔️ Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- ✔️ Team-Oriented: Ability to work well within a team environment, displaying strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- ✔️ Initiative & Independence: Resourceful, with the ability to work independently when required.
- ✔️ Proficiency: Skilled in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
- ✔️ Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- ✔️ South African Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen and possess a valid driver’s license.
- ✔️ Location Preference: Candidates based in Johannesburg will be given preference.
