π Position Overview
Campus Health Services (CHS) provides integrated, high-quality healthcare support to more than 40,000 students and staff across Stellenbosch Universityβs primary campuses. The Clinical Nurse Practitioner plays a crucial role in delivering primary health care, managing emergency situations, supporting occupational health initiatives, and contributing to the strategic wellbeing goals of the institution.
This role is ideal for an experienced, patient-focused, and innovative nurse with strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a multi-professional environment.
π©Ί Key Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive preventative and curative primary healthcare to staff and students.

Provide emergency care, including ECGs, nebulisations, and off-site assessments when needed.

Offer nursing support at sports events and campus activities, with rotational after-hours and public holiday availability.

Dispense medication in line with scope of practice and administer immunisations.

Take responsibility for administrative and operational tasks within CHS.

Participate in institutional programmes such as workshops, seminars, and health promotion initiatives.

Develop innovative health processes and programmes to improve service delivery.

Support clinical governance and quality assurance within the multi-disciplinary team.
π Minimum Job Requirements
Essential Requirements
-
Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner.
-
Postgraduate qualification in Primary Health Care (PHC).
-
7β10 years experience as a Professional Registered Nurse.

Certificate in the dispensing of medicine.
-
Valid South African driverβs licence.
-
Strong IT skills and proficiency in health-related digital systems.

Excellent communication, organisational, and planning ability.

Ability to work under pressure with strong time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to function effectively within a multi-professional team.

Compassionate, values-driven, person-centred care philosophy.
-
Ability to communicate in at least two official South African languages.
π Recommendations (Added Advantage)

Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent emergency care training.

Postgraduate qualifications in Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, or other clinical specialisations.

Experience providing primary healthcare in a tertiary student environment.

Training or experience in sexual health, HIV/AIDS programmes, or radiation safety.

Skills in conducting spirometry, ECGs, cervical smears, and breast examinations.

Exposure to financial management systems.
