MSD South Africa is offering an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Graduate – Technology Analyst to join its clinical research environment. This graduate role is designed for a technically capable and analytically minded individual who is eager to apply technology solutions to real-world clinical research challenges.

The successful graduate will work closely with clinical operations, data management, biostatistics, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory teams to design, build, and optimise technology tools that improve data integrity, operational efficiency, and decision-making throughout the clinical trial lifecycle.

This role provides hands-on exposure to modern data platforms, workflow automation, low-code application development, and analytics within a highly regulated and globally respected pharmaceutical organisation.

🧠 Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clinical research and operational stakeholders to understand business and research requirements

• Translate complex clinical workflows into technical solutions that improve efficiency and accuracy

• Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI to track study progress, KPIs, and quality metrics

• Build low-code applications using Power Apps to support study documentation, task tracking, and workflow automation

• Implement automated workflows and system integrations using Power Automate

• Write clean and maintainable code for data processing, ETL pipelines, and system integrations where required

• Apply data validation rules, audit trails, and quality checks to ensure compliance and data integrity

• Support user testing, training, documentation, and adoption of developed solutions

• Monitor system performance and continuously enhance tools based on feedback and usage data

• Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, POPIA, GxP, and internal company policies

• Coordinate with IT and Information Security teams regarding access control, governance, and platform standards

• Participate in innovation initiatives including proof-of-concepts using emerging technologies such as AI-assisted analytics

🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Honours Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline

• Qualification must be obtained from a reputable South African institution

Experience

• No formal work experience required

• Practical academic projects, internships, or applied research experience will be advantageous

Technical Skills

• Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modelling, dashboards, row-level security)

• Power Apps (canvas or model-driven apps, connectors, environment basics)

• Power Automate (workflow design, approvals, system integrations)

• Foundational programming skills in Python, R, C#, JavaScript, or similar

• SQL and relational database knowledge

• Understanding of ETL processes and data wrangling

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and Azure services is beneficial

• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
