Job Overview

Shoprite Group of Companies is seeking an experienced Cloud Developer III to join our IT team. This role focuses on back-end data development with advanced expertise in Tableau front-end development, enabling accurate and actionable business intelligence. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data warehouse design, transformation, and modelling, and be proficient in AWS, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, and SQL. Familiarity with Terraform and Azure DevOps is advantageous to support our cloud infrastructure-as-code initiatives.

As a Cloud Developer III, you will be critical in building and maintaining the transformation layers that power reporting dashboards and analytics tools, helping the business make data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Cloud Development

  • Design, develop, and optimise ETL processes to transform and load data from AWS into Redshift and Snowflake.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design robust and efficient data models that support reporting and analytical needs.

  • Use Terraform to manage and provision cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps for automated deployment of data solutions.

  • Monitor data warehouse performance and troubleshoot issues as required.

Tableau Development

  • Build interactive dashboards and reports to deliver actionable insights across the organisation.

  • Optimise Tableau reports for performance, usability, and accuracy.

  • Implement best practices in data visualisation, dashboard design, and reporting standards.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of Tableau dashboards, workflows, and architecture.

  • Stay updated on Tableau features, updates, and trends, and propose improvements.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business teams to understand requirements.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of data from multiple sources.

  • Deliver data-driven insights that enable informed business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field (essential).

  • Relevant alternative qualifications will be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven Tableau development and data visualisation experience (essential).

  • Experience in data processing, extraction, modelling, and transformation (preferred).

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python with experience in relational databases (essential).

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and data modelling techniques.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud data warehousing, ETL processes, and data visualisation.

  • Familiarity with AWS, Redshift, Snowflake, Terraform, and Azure DevOps is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
