Overview

Amazon Development Centre (South Africa) (Proprietary) Limited is looking for a proactive Cloud Support Engineer who thrives in fast-paced, innovative environments. In this role, you will be the Cloud Ambassador for AWS products, supporting customers through various contact channels to help them leverage cutting-edge cloud technologies and automation tools. Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Case Resolution:

    • Resolve customer cases via telephone, email, and live chat using advanced troubleshooting techniques.
    • Dive deep into root causes to ensure long-lasting solutions.
  • Process & Content Development:

    • Drive initiatives to improve support processes and enhance the customer experience.
    • Create tutorials, how-to videos, technical articles, and training materials.
  • Mentorship & Team Collaboration:

    • Coach and mentor new hires while actively participating in hiring processes.
    • Collaborate with development teams to address complex, multi-service issues and drive strategic improvements.
  • Infrastructure Automation & Configuration Management:

    • Support and enhance services focused on AWS CloudFormation, Cloud Development Kit (CDK), Control Tower, Service Catalog, and AWS OpsWorks.
    • Write scripts and develop tools to streamline operations and process improvements.
  • Continuous Learning:

    • Stay up-to-date with groundbreaking cloud technologies, constantly enhancing your technical skills and professional competencies.

Basic Qualifications

  • 🎓 Experience:
    • 1+ year in software development or technical support.
  • 🔧 Technical Expertise:
    • Hands-on experience with at least one IaC tool (CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK).
    • Familiarity with configuration management tools (AWS OpsWorks, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible).
    • Solid understanding of Linux and networking concepts/protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTPS, OSI Model).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 🛠 Advanced Skills:
    • Experience with application deployment pipelines (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible).
    • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and modern scripting or programming languages (UNIX Shell, Python, Ruby, GO, Java, .NET, or JavaScript).
  • ☁️ Cloud Proficiency:
    • Understanding of cloud computing concepts and practical experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • 🚀 Deployment Expertise:
    • Familiarity with complete deployment lifecycles including Blue/Green or Rolling Deployments.
