Overview

Amazon Development Centre (South Africa) (Proprietary) Limited is seeking a dynamic Cloud Support Engineer specializing in Infrastructure as Code. This role is perfect for tech enthusiasts eager to support and innovate with AWS cloud technologies. As a Cloud Support Engineer, you’ll act as a Cloud Ambassador, assisting customers in automating their infrastructure management and configuration using industry-leading tools.


What You’ll Do

  • Customer Case Resolution:
    • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues via telephone, email, or live chat.
    • Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to dive deep into the root cause of issues.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Drive initiatives to enhance support processes and improve customer experiences.
    • Create tutorials, how-to videos, technical articles, and training sessions.
  • Technical Mentorship:
    • Mentor new hires and share expertise through coaching and training sessions.
    • Partner with development teams to resolve complex issues and contribute to strategic improvements.
  • Infrastructure Automation & Governance:
    • Support services focusing on AWS CloudFormation, Cloud Development Kit (CDK), Control Tower, Service Catalog, and AWS OpsWorks.
  • Collaboration & Feedback:
    • Provide valuable feedback to internal AWS teams to continuously enhance service quality.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and implement best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 🎓 Basic Requirements:
    • 1+ years in software development or technical support.
  • 🔧 Technical Skills:
    • Experience with at least one Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK).
    • Proficiency with one Configuration Management tool (e.g., AWS OpsWorks, Chef, Puppet, Ansible).
    • Good understanding of Linux and Networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTPS, OSI Model).
  • 💡 Troubleshooting & Debugging:
    • Proven experience in troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
  • 📞 Customer Focus:
    • Ability to provide exceptional customer service across multiple channels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 🛠 Advanced Technical Skills:
    • Experience with application deployment pipelines (Git, Jenkins, etc.), Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • 💻 Programming & Scripting:
    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as UNIX Shell, Python, Ruby, GO, Java, .NET (C#), or JavaScript.
  • ☁️ Cloud Expertise:
    • A strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • 📈 Deployment Lifecycle Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with deployment methods like Blue/Green or Rolling Deployments.
