π§© JOB OVERVIEW
The Department invites applications for the Communications (Media Liaison) Internship Programme 2026, designed to provide unemployed graduates with practical experience in public sector communications and media relations. The internship offers exposure to government communication strategies, media engagement, content development, and stakeholder communication.
Interns will work under the guidance of experienced communication professionals and will be required to enter into a performance agreement for the duration of the programme.
π KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with media liaison activities and coordination with journalists and media houses

Support the drafting of press releases, media statements, and communication materials
-
Assist in managing internal and external communications platforms
-
Support coverage of departmental events, campaigns, and public engagements
-
Assist with monitoring media coverage and compiling media reports
-
Provide administrative support to the Communications Unit as required
π QUALIFICATIONS
Education
-
National Diploma or Degree in Communication, Journalism, or Public Relations
Experience
-
No prior work experience required
-
Applicants must not have previously participated in any government or state internship
Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Basic understanding of media relations and public communication

Good organisational and time-management skills
-
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic digital platforms)

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
