🧑‍💼 Role Overview

The Community Journalist will create compelling print and digital content for the Hermanus Times, contributing to both the print edition and digital platforms. This role requires collaboration with editors to deliver content aligned with audience engagement strategies.

📝 Key Responsibilities

✍ Content Creation

• Produce high-quality long-form print content in line with editorial strategies

• Create engaging digital content, including web articles, social media posts, video, and podcasts

• Ensure all content adheres to publication style guides and editorial standards

🌐 Digital & Social Media Management

• Manage Hermanus Times’ social media platforms

• Assist with content management systems and digital platform updates

📌 Editorial Support

• Collaborate with editors to plan and develop content strategies

• Support multimedia production initiatives

• Ensure content is accurate, relevant, and timely

🎓 Educational & Experience Requirements

• Degree or diploma in English, Journalism, or Media Studies

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in journalism or related media field

• Strong digital skills and multimedia understanding

• Knowledge of media laws and the South African Press Code
