Position Overview

Capitec Bank is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Company Secretary to join our team in Stellenbosch. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in corporate governance and compliance to play a key role in shaping the bank’s corporate practices, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to our newly established insurance sector.

If you have 5-10 years’ experience in a Company Secretarial capacity, ideally in the banking or insurance sectors, and you are passionate about governance, compliance, and risk management, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.


Key Responsibilities

Corporate Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks, including the Long-Term Insurance Act and Companies Act.
Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Insurance Sector Oversight: Play a pivotal role in ensuring governance in our newly established insurance sector.
Document Control: Oversee document management, ensuring all records are maintained according to legal and company requirements.
Risk Management: Assist in identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring the company’s compliance with relevant laws and policies.
Governance Administration: Provide administrative support for board meetings, committee meetings, and related corporate governance activities.


Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Law or Finance.
5-10 years’ experience in a Company Secretarial role, with exposure to banking, insurance, or listed environments.
✅ In-depth knowledge of the Long-Term Insurance Act and Companies Act.
✅ Strong understanding of corporate governance, finance principles, and stakeholder management.


Ideal Qualifications

🔑 Post-graduate qualification in Law or Finance.
🔑 Experience as a Company Secretary in a large organization.
🔑 Knowledge of compliance, risk management, and document control.
