🎯 Job Purpose

As a Finishing/Conversion Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, running, and monitoring specialized machinery used in the post-print finishing of labels and flexible packaging. You’ll work with various machines including shrink, stretch, rewind, and slitting equipment, ensuring optimal performance and high-quality output.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Operate conversion machinery including shrink, stretch, rewind, and slitting equipment

• Run machines at optimum capability while ensuring efficiency and minimal waste

• Monitor print and seam quality during operation; remove defective materials as needed

• Splice roll web per specifications using appropriate tools (e.g., ruler, safety knife)

• Handle and palletize rolls carefully to avoid damage

• Perform external make-ready operations and clean-up during label job changeovers

• Accurately record job data in both physical paperwork and internal systems (Radius)

• Collaborate with team members to ensure fast, efficient production cycles

• Complete customer-specific QA sheets and documentation where required

• Support special projects or ad hoc production tasks as assigned

• Work overtime when required by production schedules

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

• Matric Certificate (Grade 12)

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating finishing/conversion machines

• Strong numeric ability and basic computer literacy

• Ability to read and interpret job tickets

• Physically fit and capable of handling heavy reels

• Flexographic printing experience is an advantage

• Must be able to work shift-based schedules
