Job Overview

Optix Africa is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant / Management Accountant to provide accurate financial and cost information that supports operational decision-making. This role covers management accounting, cost control, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ERP support, ensuring robust internal controls and accurate reporting across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts with accurate variance analysis and commentary

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes

• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies

• Develop KPI dashboards and performance reports for management

• Maintain and update Bill of Materials (BOM) across all product lines

• Analyse cost of goods sold, including labour, overheads, and other costs

• Conduct margin, product profitability, and customer profitability analyses

• Provide cost estimates for new products or services

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives

• Support operational teams with cost modelling and decision-making

• Ensure accuracy of inventory valuation and stock reconciliations

• Maintain internal control procedures and ensure compliance with accounting standards

• Assist with month-end reconciliations and reporting

• Perform quality checks on sales orders, liaising with Sales and Operations teams

• Support ERP system processes, perform spot checks, and resolve discrepancies

Minimum Requirements

• Part-qualified or fully qualified Cost Accountant

• Proven experience in management accounting and/or cost accounting

• Strong numerical, analytical, and Excel skills; familiarity with ERP systems

• Knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and cost control

• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness

• Ability to work collaboratively with finance and operational teams

• Experience in hardware, telematics, or technical product environments preferred

• Experience with NetSuite is advantageous
