About the Role

The Real Steel department is seeking a motivated, professional, and organized Counter Sales Clerk to join their dynamic team in Cape Town. This role requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can meet strict deadlines, and deliver excellent customer service. You will be an integral part of the sales process, from taking telephonic orders through to delivery, while assisting customers directly at the counter.


Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process telephonic orders efficiently, ensuring follow-through until delivery.

  • Contact customers regarding orders, specials, and promotions.

  • Assist customers in-store and at the sales counter with professionalism and product knowledge.

  • Conduct pricing research to keep competitive and accurate pricing structures.

  • Perform data capture and general administrative duties related to inventory and sales.

  • Handle cash transactions securely and accurately.

  • Assist with quarterly stock takes and maintain proper stock control.

  • Support other departments as needed to ensure smooth operations.

  • Maintain accurate electronic filing and data management.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.

  • 3 to 5 years’ counter sales experience, preferably in hardware or retail environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with fast and accurate data processing skills.

  • Strong telephone etiquette and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

  • Knowledge of steel, hardware, and security products is a strong advantage.

Additional Information

  • Work Hours: Monday – Thursday: 07h30–17h00, Friday: 07h30–16h00.

  • Overtime may be required based on operational needs.

  • The successful candidate will undergo background checks including credit, criminal, and polygraph testing.
