The Opportunity: Country Sales Director

As Country Sales Director, you will be the strategic force behind Rockwell Automation’s growth in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. You’ll lead a high-performing sales team, drive engagement with executive-level stakeholders, and expand market share through our direct and indirect sales channels.

This role is ideal for a proven leader with deep experience in industrial automation, a passion for team development, and a strong grasp of digital sales transformation. Your leadership will directly influence how the world’s leading manufacturers operate—more productively and sustainably.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Direct and manage sales teams to exceed revenue targets across the region.

  • Develop and implement localized sales strategies aligned with Rockwell’s global vision.

  • Allocate sales resources strategically to high-growth sectors and regions.

  • Drive adoption of the Disciplined Sales Process (DSP) and account planning best practices.

  • Track KPIs, optimize performance, and ensure CRM and reporting tools are utilized effectively.

Customer & Partner Engagement

  • Build strong executive-level relationships with key end users, OEMs, and channel partners.

  • Drive multi-country teaming efforts for regional and multinational accounts.

  • Support go-to-market initiatives, account expansions, and joint ventures with distribution partners.

Operational Management

  • Collaborate with regional sales leadership to plan and execute annual budgets.

  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and regulatory developments.

  • Ensure full compliance with B-BBEE requirements and corporate ethics policies.

Team Development & Culture

  • Foster a performance-driven, inclusive team culture.

  • Mentor and support professional development for team members.

  • Lead through change and uncertainty with resilience and empathy.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 10+ years’ experience in technology-based B2B sales, with at least 5 in a leadership role.

  • Strong familiarity with industrial automation (hardware/software), machine builders, and OEM ecosystems.

  • Proven success in sales strategy implementation and growth delivery.

  • Deep knowledge of consultative selling and outcome-based sales models.

  • Solid experience with ARR models, subscription-based licensing, and customer success.

  • Ability to work across C-suite, operations, and technical levels.

  • Understanding of the Southern African business and cultural environment.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30% regionally.
