Job Overview
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development invites unemployed South Africans to apply for entry-level Court Interpreter positions. These roles are critical in ensuring fair legal proceedings by facilitating clear communication between courts and the public through accurate interpretation and translation services.
Key Responsibilities

Interpret proceedings in Criminal, Civil, Labour, and quasi-judicial courts

Provide interpretation during legal consultations

Translate legal documents and court exhibits

Record cases in criminal record books

Prepare and draw case records upon request by Magistrates and Prosecutors

Maintain accurate interpretation and court statistics records
Qualifications
Education
-
Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification
Experience
-
Entry-level role; no prior experience required
-
Three months’ practical experience is advantageous
Skills

Computer literacy (MS Office)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Administrative and organisational skills

Ability to maintain professional interpersonal relations

High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Knowledge & Language Proficiency

Proficiency in English and one or more indigenous languages

KwaZulu-Natal (Pinetown): IsiZulu and IsiXhosa

Free State (Phuthaditjhaba): English, Sesotho, and Zulu
