Job Overview

Standard Bank is offering an 18-month Credit Operations Graduate Programme within its Personal & Private Banking (PPB) division. This programme provides graduates with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in credit operations, process management, and risk governance within a regulated banking environment.

Graduates will participate in a structured rotation programme, gaining exposure to multiple operational areas while receiving mentorship from experienced professionals. Participants will also complete training and certifications designed to develop strong operational and analytical capabilities.

Successful candidates will be employed permanently from day one and will have the opportunity to choose a specialised team after completing their programme rotations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support operational processes within credit operations and banking systems

  • Analyse operational data to improve efficiency and process management

  • Assist with automation and data analytics initiatives

  • Participate in business intelligence and operational transformation projects

  • Support compliance with regulatory frameworks and governance requirements

  • Contribute to operational risk management activities

  • Collaborate with teams across business units to support operational performance

  • Participate in training programmes, mentorship sessions, and development projects


Qualifications

Education

  • Honours Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field

  • The postgraduate qualification must follow a Bachelor’s Degree

Relevant undergraduate degrees may include:

  • BA

  • BCom

  • BEng

  • BSc

  • LLB

Preferred fields of postgraduate study include:

  • Operations Management or Business Operations

  • Credit Management or Banking Operations

  • Risk Management or Operational Risk

  • Industrial Engineering (operations or process-focused)

  • Business Administration (operations-focused)

Fields such as Accounting, Law, or Economics may be considered if combined with a relevant postgraduate qualification in operations or risk.

Experience

  • Maximum of 12–18 months work experience

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Interest in credit risk, operations, and governance environments

  • Ability to work with data and operational systems

  • Strong organisational and teamwork skills

  • Good communication and decision-making abilities
