About the Role: Credit Operations Manager

Discovery Bank is seeking a Credit Operations Manager to lead and optimize our credit function. This critical role oversees daily operations, credit assessments, process enhancements, and customer satisfaction, ensuring we remain compliant while supporting performance excellence.

You will be responsible for building scalable systems, managing risks, analyzing data patterns, and developing operational strategies that enhance customer experience and credit quality.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end credit operations process including credit assessment, data analysis, and risk evaluation.

  • Manage credit portfolios and resolve escalated client disputes and queries.

  • Identify credit risk trends through data analysis and contribute insights to refine credit models.

  • Create and manage operational strategies and implement continuous process improvements.

  • Oversee SLA adherence, resource planning, and performance metrics across credit teams.

  • Maintain regulatory compliance and mitigate operational risks through detailed risk registers.

  • Build and nurture internal and external stakeholder relationships.

  • Develop staff through Individual Development Plans (IDPs), structured training, and continuous mentoring.

  • Promote a high-performance, values-driven culture that aligns with Discovery’s principles.

  • Stay updated on credit risk and operational trends both locally and globally.


Required Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, or Business Management.

  • FAIS accreditation.

  • 5–7 years in credit operations and operational risk within financial services.

  • At least 3–5 years of management experience.

Preferred:

  • MBL, MBA, or MComm.

  • Experience in risk/loss prevention in financial services or retail banking.

  • Proficient in business analysis, credit scoring, financial planning, and risk management.

  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with financial compliance and banking regulatory requirements.
