Role Overview

As a Customer Service Specialist, you will be at the heart of our client interactions, handling both inbound and outbound communications. Your role involves resolving complex and sometimes ambiguous cases with minimal need for escalation. You’ll work across various functions, ensuring clients receive the best possible support, and will be an integral part of enhancing the customer experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your extensive financial services experience, providing expert guidance and support to both clients and junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle client queries via telephone and written correspondence with professionalism and accuracy.

  • Work across various products and processes, adapting to business needs.

  • Play a supportive role, sharing information and persuading clients towards appropriate solutions.

  • Act as a mentor to less experienced consultants, providing technical support and coaching.

  • Assist management with complex escalations and contribute to process improvements.

  • Balance between inbound calls, outbound calls, and correspondence as needed.

  • Engage in continuous learning to maintain a high level of product and industry knowledge.

What You Bring

  • Qualifications:

    • Matric or a relevant tertiary qualification.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years in the financial services industry.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Strong analytical and logical reasoning.

    • Customer-focused with a strong desire to provide superior service.

    • Diplomatic, empathetic, and tactful approach to client interactions.

    • Knowledge of pension fund administration and relevant legislation (Superfund product knowledge is a plus).

    • Experience with Old Mutual Compass, EMS, and AWD/Chorus advantageous.
