🎯 About the Role: Cyber Security Architect
As a Cyber Security Architect at Capitec, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing advanced security solutions that protect our systems, data, and networks from evolving cyber threats. In this role, your expertise will be key in developing resilient systems to safeguard our data, ensuring compliance with global security standards, and enhancing Capitec’s overall security posture.
You will be responsible for evaluating existing security frameworks, identifying vulnerabilities, and designing robust defenses, particularly in multi-cloud environments such as AWS. With your experience in cybersecurity architecture, you will help steer the organization’s strategy for preventing cyberattacks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements like GDPR, POPIA, and others.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
💼 Security Design & Implementation: Design and implement advanced security measures to protect Capitec’s digital infrastructure from evolving cyber threats.
🛡️ Risk Assessment: Evaluate and assess existing systems for vulnerabilities and recommend security improvements.
🌐 Cloud Security: Ensure the security of cloud platforms, with particular expertise in AWS.
🔧 Scripting & Automation: Use scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, and Terraform to automate security processes.
📜 Security Policies & Guidelines: Formulate and document security policies, standards, and roadmaps aligned with NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, and POPIA.
⚙️ Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance overall security architecture and promote a secure-by-design culture.
🔍 Continuous Monitoring: Keep track of the latest security trends, threats, and technologies to ensure Capitec stays ahead of potential risks.
🎓 Required Qualifications & Experience
🔑 Essential Qualifications:
- BSc in Computer Science or related field.
- Certified in AWS (Solutions Architect or Associate Level).
🔑 Required Experience:
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity.
- A minimum of 3 years in a cybersecurity architecture position.
- Experience with securing cloud environments (specifically AWS).
- Expertise in network topologies, encryption practices, data flow, and system design.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools (CI/CD pipelines, Terraform).
- Knowledge of secure coding techniques and vulnerability prevention.
📚 Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
- Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
- Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP).
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
