🔐 About the Role: Cyber Security Architect

As a Cyber Security Architect at Capitec, you’ll play a critical role in safeguarding the bank’s infrastructure and data. You’ll work closely with various teams to design and implement security solutions that protect against evolving cyber threats, ensuring that our systems are secure, compliant, and resilient to attacks.

Key Responsibilities:

🛡️ Design and Implement Security Solutions: Create robust security strategies that prevent and mitigate cyber risks, particularly in multi-cloud environments.
🔍 Evaluate & Strengthen Existing Security Architecture: Assess vulnerabilities and continuously enhance security frameworks.
🌐 Cloud Security: Expertise in securing cloud environments, including AWS, and applying best practices for data protection and risk management.
🔧 Automation: Use scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate security tasks and leverage IaC tools such as Terraform.
💬 Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with other technical teams to embed security measures in all stages of product development.
📜 Document Security Policies & Standards: Develop and document comprehensive security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with industry best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, POPIA).
🛠️ Leadership: Guide and mentor cross-functional teams to ensure secure development practices are implemented throughout the organization.

🎯 Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Cyber Security Architect with extensive hands-on experience in designing and implementing advanced security solutions. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly skilled, and able to lead initiatives that secure our infrastructure while working under pressure.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• ✅ 5+ years of hands-on experience in any cybersecurity role.
• ✅ 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity architecture.
• ✅ Expertise in network topologies, cloud infrastructures, and data flow.
• ✅ Proficient in encryption standards, secure coding practices, and securing cloud environments like AWS.
• ✅ Automation skills using Python, PowerShell, or Bash to streamline security tasks.
• ✅ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and IaC tools (e.g., Terraform).
• ✅ Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, POPIA.
• ✅ Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

🎓 Educational Requirements

• 📚 Completed BSc in Computer Science or related field.
• 🎓 Certified AWS Solutions Architect or similar cloud certification.
• 💼 Ideal certifications:
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Knowledge of Python, Terraform, PowerShell.
