Sanlam Group Technology provides a digitally enabled technology service as a group Center of Excellence (COE). We drive business transformation, manage technology platforms, ensure cyber resilience, and govern technology risk across Sanlam.
About the Role
We are building an innovative engineering organization to drive autonomous value creation through insights and machine learning (ML) across the group. Our key users include:
- Data scientists and analysts developing financial and digital products.
- Data management and product teams providing essential datasets.
Our engineering tribe consists of three squads:
✅ Ingestions Squad – Handles data collection and security.
✅ Data Products Empowerment Squad – Simplifies data transformation.
✅ Insights & ML Tooling Squad – Accelerates insights and ML development.
Your Key Responsibilities
Within 12 months, you will:
- 💡 Develop configurable data ingestion platforms ensuring high security and efficiency.
- 📊 Enable SQL-only users to orchestrate complex data transformations.
- 👨💻 Build tools empowering analysts & data scientists in ML model development.
- ⚖️ Ensure platform security via encryption, role-based access, and compliance initiatives.
- 🛠️ Implement observability, logs, metrics, and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) for real-time tracking.
- 🛠️ Utilize containerization and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for efficient deployments.
Qualifications
🎓 Minimum: Matric.
🌟 Preferred: Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Experience
- 💪 5+ years in data engineering (2+ years with cloud technologies).
- 🔗 Proven ability to innovate and solve complex data challenges.
