Job Overview

The Data Engineer: Ingestions will play a key role in building and maintaining scalable data ingestion platforms that support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence across the organisation.

You will work within a modern data engineering environment, collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and platform teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data ingestion platforms for scalable data collection.
• Develop tools for data transformation, orchestration, and processing.
• Enable analytics and machine learning workflows across business units.
• Ensure system observability, performance monitoring, and reliability.
• Define and implement Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Objectives (SLOs).
• Implement data security, governance, and privacy controls.
• Use containerization and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Docker and Terraform.
• Contribute to technology decisions and architecture design.
• Continuously improve systems through automation and innovation.

Qualifications

Education

• Matric (Grade 12)
• National Diploma in IT or
• Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Statistics
  • Informatics or related quantitative field

Experience

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer
• At least 2 years working with modern cloud technologies
• Proven track record of delivering high-impact data solutions

Skills

• Strong knowledge of data engineering and data platforms
• Experience with cloud technologies and distributed systems
• Proficiency in Docker, Terraform, and automation tools
• Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams
• High ownership mindset and continuous learning attitude
