Requirements: Ensure you meet the criteria below to be considered for this exciting opportunity:

  • Hold an NQF7 Undergraduate qualification in relevant fields (Development Studies, Accounting Sciences, Agriculture & Environmental Sciences, Economic & Management Sciences, Human Sciences, Science, Public Administration, Engineering & Technology – SAQA recognized).
  • Possess 6 years of experience, including 3 years at a supervisor level in Regional and Local Economic Development.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Local Government sector and applicable legislation.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Showcase proven competencies in Communication (Verbal and Written), Programme & Project Management, Financial Management, Client orientation, Problem-solving, Service Delivery Innovation, Stakeholder Relations, Planning, and Organizing Skills.

Duties: As a pivotal player in this role, your responsibilities will span a spectrum of impactful activities, including but not limited to:

  • Developing policies, strategies, plans, and programs aimed at enhancing regional and local economies.
  • Collaborating seamlessly with districts and municipalities on small business portfolio programs, managing priority projects, and fostering robust stakeholder relations.
  • Providing invaluable technical support to provinces and municipalities in the effective implementation of economic development strategies.
  • Overseeing sub-directorate operations and resources in strict adherence to relevant prescripts.
  • Communicating effectively through written, verbal, and formal presentations, workshops, and information sessions with stakeholders, clients, management, and colleagues.
