Job Overview
The Department of Tourism is offering Entry Level HR Clerk opportunities for unemployed South Africans seeking to gain experience within the public service. This role focuses on human resource administration and support, providing exposure to government HR systems, recruitment processes, employee records management, and public sector compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Supporting recruitment, selection, and appointment processes

Sorting, capturing, and numbering job applications
-
Planning and arranging logistics for meetings
-
Attending meetings and taking minutes
-
Drafting submissions, offer letters, and regret letters
-
Coordinating personnel suitability checks
-
Capturing and processing recruitment and service benefit transactions on PERSAL
-
Administering conditions of service and employee benefits
-
Receiving, checking, and capturing leave applications on PERSAL and EDMS
-
Sending leave gratuity advice to Finance after approvals
-
Responding to HR-related enquiries
-
Managing nomination of beneficiaries and pension withdrawal documentation

Opening, auditing, and maintaining employee personal (SP) files
-
Providing general HR administrative support to the unit
Qualifications
Education
-
Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent
Experience
-
No prior experience required
-
Experiential learning in HR will be an added advantage
Skills

Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

Good verbal and written communication skills

Customer-focused approach

Ability to work under pressure

Teamwork and flexibility
Knowledge

Knowledge of relevant Acts, policies, and prescripts

Knowledge of HR practices within the Public Service

PERSAL knowledge (advantage)

Possession of a PERSAL certificate will be an added advantage
