Job Description:

As a Deputy Cleaning Manager, you will oversee the daily cleaning operations, manage staff, ensure the highest hygiene and cleanliness standards, and report directly to the Unit Manager. You’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and efficient environment by ensuring that all cleaning procedures are followed and that any issues are promptly addressed.
Key Responsibilities of the Deputy Cleaning Manager:

Supervise and manage cleaning staff across multiple shifts to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.

Allocate cleaning duties to the team, ensuring correct staffing levels and adequate coverage for all departments.

Prepare and implement daily rosters, ensuring accurate staff allocation for each shift.

Raise job cards and maintenance requests for faulty equipment that poses safety risks or impacts food safety.

Monitor and maintain cleanliness throughout the unit, addressing any non-conformances immediately.

Report pest sightings or incidents to the QC Management and take corrective action as necessary.

Conduct daily Toolbox Talks to reinforce hygiene standards and submit reports to the head of the cleaning department.

Manage the inventory of chemicals and disposables, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely orders.

Ensure the cleaning and maintenance of dishwashers, trolleys, and drains, particularly during night shifts.

Oversee food waste recording and ensure compliance with company protocols.

Report absenteeism to HR and the head of the cleaning department on a daily basis.

Supervise the night shift team, ensuring compliance with cleaning standards and addressing any performance issues.
Requirements for the Deputy Cleaning Manager:

Grade 12 qualification (Matric).

A diploma or similar qualification in Business Management or a related field.

A short course in Leadership Development will be an advantage.

Knowledge of HACCP standards is an advantage.

At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, particularly in managing cleaning teams.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills.

Previous experience in a supervisory role managing housekeeping or cleaning staff.

Own reliable vehicle and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Must be available for overtime when required.
