The Department of Agriculture is committed to efficient and transparent logistics and supply chain management, ensuring timely procurement, payment, and delivery of goods and services. As part of the Logistics and Asset Management Directorate, this role is central to optimizing logistics systems, financial processes, and resource planning in alignment with Treasury Regulations and PFMA compliance.
π― Position Overview
The Deputy Director: Logistics Management will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing logistics systems, procurement processes, and warehouse management, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and accountability in all supply chain operations. This role requires strong leadership, analytical, and project management skills.
π Key Responsibilities

π Logistics Management Systems: Implement, monitor, and improve logistical systems, procedures, and processes to enhance service turnaround times.

π Procurement Oversight: Manage the creation and authorization of purchase orders, ensuring adherence to SCM delegations of authority.

π LOGIS Integrity: Monitor and analyse LOGIS reports, prepare monthly management reports, and ensure accurate data entry.

π΅ Payments Management: Oversee processing of payments for goods, services, and assets; reconcile supplier statements; implement risk mitigation strategies.

π’ Stores & Warehousing: Supervise deliveries, conduct spot checks, evaluate stock levels monthly, and ensure proper stock management.

π Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, interim, and annual financial statements, accruals, commitment reports, and weekly invoice summaries.

π€ Team & Resource Management: Lead a team effectively, manage resources, and ensure compliance with departmental policies and Treasury Regulations.
π Requirements
Education & Qualifications:

National Diploma in Financial Management, Logistics, Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Management, or Accounting (NQF Level 6).
Experience:
-
Minimum 5 yearsβ experience at Assistant Director level in the Supply Chain Management field.
Job-related Knowledge & Skills:
-
Knowledge of Treasury Regulations, Supply Chain Management Framework, and LOGIS.

Project management, team leadership, interpersonal communication, resource planning, and time management skills.

Financial forecasting, planning, and problem-solving abilities.

Computer literacy and strong reporting skills.

Valid driverβs license.
