Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Design & Proposal Engineer Services to join our team in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about both the technical and commercial aspects of maritime services. In this role, you will work closely with the Account Management team to design comprehensive and innovative solutions that meet customer needs and align with Damen’s high standards. You’ll be responsible for crafting proposals, managing tender processes, and working alongside various departments to ensure the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- 💡 Design Maritime Solutions: Collaborate with Account Management to create custom maritime solutions, including parts packages, training programs, and integrated maintenance services.
- 📊 Proposal Preparation: Develop comprehensive and competitive proposals, analyzing costs, timeframes, labor, and materials.
- 🤝 Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Supply Chain, Operations, and Account Management to ensure the feasibility and competitiveness of proposals.
- 📝 Tender Management: Contribute to the preparation of tenders, ensuring all technical and commercial aspects are covered.
- 🚀 Project Handover: Facilitate smooth handovers from D&P Services to the project execution team and ensure all specifications are met.
- 🔄 Continuous Improvement: Remain engaged during the project execution phase to gather feedback and refine future proposals, helping Damen continuously improve its services.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:
- 🎓 Educational Background: A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Shipbuilding, Maritime Engineering, or a similar field.
- 🛠️ Industry Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the maritime industry, particularly in shipbuilding, maintenance, or repair.
- ⚙️ Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of shipboard systems, maritime equipment, and related technologies.
- 🌍 Communication Skills: Fluency in English; proficiency in Dutch or French is an asset.
- 📍 Location: Candidates should currently reside in Cape Town, South Africa.
