The Role: Design & Proposal Engineer Services
As a Design & Proposal Engineer Services, you will work closely with the Account Manager Services to assess customer requirements and design maritime solutions. Your role involves both the technical and commercial aspects of the services we offer, including:
- 💡 Designing Maritime Solutions: Create proposals that meet the customer’s needs, whether for parts packages, training programs, or integrated maintenance solutions.
- 💬 Collaborating with Teams: Work with Account Management, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure comprehensive and competitive proposals.
- 📈 Proposal Development: Participate in the development of tenders, ensuring that proposals are well-crafted and meet customer requirements.
- 🔄 Project Handover: Once the order is confirmed, facilitate a smooth transition from proposal to project execution with a comprehensive kick-off.
- 🔍 Continuous Improvement: Stay engaged throughout project execution, gathering feedback to improve future proposals and service offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- ✔️ Understand Customer Needs: Collaborate with clients and Account Management to identify their drivers, issues, and expectations.
- ✔️ Estimate Project Costs: Analyze project requirements to estimate cost, time, labor, and materials for execution.
- ✔️ Competitive Pricing: Work with stakeholders to ensure the project pricing is market-competitive.
- ✔️ Standardize and Develop Services: Contribute to the continuous improvement and development of services in your primary domain (RCC/Training/AMD).
- ✔️ Tender Participation: Contribute to the development of tender documents and deliverables.
- ✔️ Project Kick-Off: After receiving an order, coordinate the handover to the project team to ensure a seamless execution phase.
- ✔️ Ongoing Improvement: Stay involved during execution to provide feedback and improve future proposals.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for a candidate who brings the following qualifications and experience:
- 🎓 Educational Requirements: A minimum of an N.Dip in Mechanical Engineering, Shipbuilding, or Maritime Engineering (or equivalent).
- 🛠️ Industry Experience: At least 5 years of experience working in the maritime industry, particularly in ship/boat-building, maintenance, or repair environments.
- ⚙️ Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of shipboard systems and equipment.
- 🗣️ Communication Skills: Excellent proficiency in English is a must. Additional languages such as Dutch and French are a bonus.
- 📍 Local to Cape Town: Ideal candidates should already be living in the Cape Town area.
