We’re hiring a Divisional HR Manager I to lead HR operations for our Inland South region. This strategic role is based at our Regional Office in Roodepoort and reports directly to the National HR Manager for Retail Operations.


About the Role

As the Divisional HR Manager, you will be instrumental in designing, coordinating, and delivering the regional HR operating plan in line with company objectives, group policies, and South African labour legislation. This role is ideal for a seasoned HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site retail environment and is passionate about people development, performance, and transformation.


Key Responsibilities

Talent Attraction & Onboarding

  • Lead recruitment processes to attract top-tier retail talent.

  • Ensure effective onboarding and integration of new employees.

Performance Management & Employee Development

  • Oversee performance management frameworks to build a high-performance culture.

  • Monitor learning and development initiatives to drive employee growth and retention.

  • Build talent pipelines to support current and future business needs.

Transformation & Employee Relations

  • Implement transformation strategies in line with B-BBEE targets and sector codes.

  • Handle employee relations, ensuring fair and compliant processes in accordance with legislation.

  • Lead CCMA and IR matters to resolution while supporting positive employee engagement.

Strategic HR Delivery

  • Execute HR annual and ad-hoc projects as per the HR calendar.

  • Partner with key stakeholders to introduce HR best practices and foster a culture of collaboration.

  • Align HR practices with organisational goals to deliver value-driven results.

Operational Management

  • Manage HR budgets, human capital, and operational resources effectively.

  • Support the financial aspects of HR planning and reporting.


Minimum Requirements

📚 Education

  • Essential: 3-year HR degree or relevant qualification

  • Desirable: Postgraduate qualification (Honours/Master’s) and/or Chartered SABPP accreditation

💼 Experience

  • Essential:

    • 5 years in HR management in retail, beauty, or service-related industries

    • 5 years in generalist HR roles

    • 3 years in multi-site management and dealing with IR/CCMA

  • Desirable: Experience negotiating within a bargaining council or with labour unions

🧠 Knowledge

  • Labour legislation and compliance

  • HR best practices, recruitment, remuneration, and performance management

  • Project and people management

  • Transformation codes and financial planning (advantageous)
