🔍 About the Role:

Join SANBS as a Donor Care Officer and play a life-saving role in collecting safe, high-quality blood and blood products across both fixed and mobile blood drives. This position offers the opportunity to impact communities positively, engage with donors, and ensure the highest standards of healthcare are maintained in every collection.

🎯 Key Responsibilities:

💰 Financial Accountability:

• Manage consumable use and maintain cost efficiency.

• Validate and report on equipment status and consumable usage.

🤝 Customer Engagement:

• Welcome and guide donors through the donation process.

• Educate donors on the donation procedure and high-risk behaviours.

• Assist with registration, assessments, and donor queries.

🧪 Blood Collection & Clinic Support:

• Perform whole blood and apheresis collections to meet daily targets.

• Assist in setting up and dismantling blood drive venues.

• Conduct physical checks and confidential assessments.

• Ensure safe phlebotomy procedures and donor aftercare.

• Maintain accurate records of donor data and clinic activities.

📚 Learning & Leadership:

• Support the Clinic Supervisor with operational leadership when needed.

• Participate in team meetings, CPDs, and in-clinic training.

🛡️ Compliance & Safety:

• Oversee medical waste management and adherence to SHEQ standards.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and policy-compliant work environment.

📌 Minimum Requirements:

• Education:

  • Diploma or Degree in General Nursing Science

  • Code B/EB Manual Driver’s License

• Experience:

  • At least 2 years as a registered professional nurse

• Knowledge:

  • SANBS policies and SOPs

  • Blood transfusion practices in South Africa
