Introduction
The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality invites applications from suitably qualified and motivated candidates for the TLMA-E-2026 Electrical Apprenticeship Programme, hosted at the Tshwane Leadership and Management Academy (TLMA) in Pretoria West.
This apprenticeship is designed to develop scarce electrical artisan skills through a structured combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on practical workplace experience.
About the Electrical Apprenticeship Programme
The Learning and Development Division of the City of Tshwane is an accredited training provider offering a comprehensive electrical apprenticeship aligned with national artisan development standards.
Successful apprentices will gain in-depth exposure to electrical installations, maintenance, fault finding, and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, preparing them for future employment in municipal, industrial, and commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Areas

Participate in classroom-based theoretical electrical training

Complete practical, work-integrated learning in electrical workshops

Perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs

Conduct fault finding and testing on electrical systems

Read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, and schematics

Apply electrical safety standards and compliance regulations

Use electrical tools, testing instruments, and equipment correctly

Maintain logbooks and complete competency assessments

Adhere to municipal policies, procedures, and professional conduct
Minimum Requirements

Technical Matric, NCV Level 4, or N2 Certificate

Mathematics and Physical Science passed

Relevant electrical trade theory subjects

Strong interest in becoming a qualified electrical artisan

Commitment to complete the full apprenticeship programme

High levels of motivation, discipline, and technical aptitude

Stipend Information
