Role Overview
The Electrical Design Draftsman plays a critical role in the design, drafting, development, and commissioning of NPS packaging machines. The role integrates electrical engineering knowledge, SolidWorks drafting, PLC understanding, and hands-on technical work.
You will be responsible for producing accurate electrical design outputs, supporting internal teams, working with suppliers, assisting customers, and participating in machine commissioning both on-site and off-site. The position requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and the ability to communicate effectively across mechanical, electrical, and automation teams.
Key Responsibilities
SolidWorks Design

Create and update detailed machine drawings in SolidWorks.

Produce electrical panel layouts, labels, and component placements.

Integrate electrical components into mechanical assemblies.

Conduct site visits to take measurements and verify design fitment.
Electrical Knowledge & Integration

Interpret and implement electrical schematics into SolidWorks designs.

Understand and apply electrical components used in packaging machinery.
-
Assist in developing accurate Bills of Materials (BoM).

Provide technical insights into PLC, VSD, servo systems, and communication protocols.
Documentation, Manuals & Training

Develop and maintain comprehensive machine manuals, including electrical sections.

Prepare clear training documents for internal staff and customer teams.

Ensure all documents follow NPS standards and match approved designs.
Support & Commissioning

Provide support to customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

Participate in on-site commissioning, including troubleshooting and adjustments.

Travel locally or internationally depending on project needs.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Matric.
-
Electrical qualification (N3 or similar) or strong industrial electrical background.

Experience with SolidWorks or similar drafting tools (2D & 3D).

Understanding of PLCs, VSDs, industrial communication protocols, and servo motors.

Experience with electrical schematics, panel layouts, and industrial wiring.
-
Previous exposure to a manufacturing or engineering environment is beneficial.

Ability to travel and work overtime when required.
