🧾 JOB OVERVIEW

The Electrical Engineer will manage and execute electrical engineering activities related to the maintenance, upgrade, testing, and commissioning of submarine electrical systems during refit projects.

The role is critical in ensuring system reliability, safety, and compliance with stringent naval and marine engineering standards within a dockyard environment.

🛠️ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as technical lead within the Submarine Refit project

• Support submarine electrical and electronic systems throughout refit activities

• Draft, review, and approve repair specifications for submarine maintenance

• Provide mentoring, technical oversight, and on-the-job training to engineers and technologists

• Assess, document, and communicate risks related to marine AC systems and power distribution

• Evaluate risks associated with submarine mission systems, including sonar, navigation, command and control, and communications

• Lead complex fault diagnosis and system operations involving non-standard configurations

• Support Program and Project Managers in dynamic dockyard delivery environments

• Identify project risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies

• Record lessons from experience (LFE) in the management system

• Manage supplier and contractor technical interfaces for spares and services

• Monitor quality control and enforce strict safety compliance

• Execute testing and commissioning activities

• Participate in project setup, site mobilisation, documentation mapping, and stakeholder identification

• Contribute to project initiation activities including safety plans, communication plans, interface plans, and RACI frameworks

🎓 QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering

Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Engineer in a relevant discipline

• At least 3 years’ experience as an Electronics Engineer in a naval (submarine) environment

• Minimum 3 years’ experience mentoring or guiding technical teams

Skills & Knowledge

• Marine electrical systems expertise

• Alternating current systems and power distribution control systems

• Risk assessment and technical documentation

• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills
