🧾 JOB OVERVIEW

Woolpert is seeking a highly experienced and ECSA-registered Professional Electrical Engineer to join its Buildings Engineering team in Johannesburg.

This hybrid role focuses on the design, implementation, and management of electrical building systems, supporting complex projects while contributing to technical excellence, mentoring, and continuous improvement across the business.

🛠️ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute complex electrical engineering design work on building projects

• Develop and review electrical models, drawings, and technical documentation

• Design power distribution, lighting, standby power, communication, and LV systems

• Perform medium-voltage, photovoltaic, battery, and microgrid designs

• Conduct electrical calculations including SKM analysis, arc flash, and photometric studies

• Provide technical reviews and ensure high-quality deliverables

• Coordinate multidisciplinary design documentation and QA/QC processes

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

• Support project planning, definition, and implementation phases

• Participate in internal training, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement

• Represent Woolpert as a technical expert when required

🎓 QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering

Experience

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in electrical engineering for building projects

• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA

• Proven experience in building power systems, lighting design, and MV distribution

Skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and 3D modelling

• Strong understanding of sustainable design (LEED or GBCSA exposure advantageous)

• Excellent technical documentation and coordination skills

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities
