Job Overview:

Are you passionate about space, engineering, and technology? The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is offering an exciting opportunity for Electronic Engineering In-Service Trainees at its Hartebeesthoek site. As part of the Space Operations department, this role is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in electronics and telecommunications to complete their qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ✔ Operate, maintain, and monitor antenna systems, radio frequency (RF), telecommunications, and computer hardware/software systems associated with satellite ground station operations.

  • ✔ Provide specialised tracking, telemetry and command (TT&C) support services to Satellite Launch Vehicles (SLVs), including launch and early-orbit phase support.

  • ✔ Conduct preventative maintenance and first-line reactive maintenance on SANSA-owned or stakeholder systems.

  • ✔ Participate in ad-hoc project tasks to expand your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • S4/S5 Electrical Engineering qualification (specialising in electronics or telecommunications) with good academic results.

  • ✅ Currently seeking work-integrated learning (WIL) or in-service training to complete your qualification.

  • ✅ Understanding of microwave principles, telecommunications, and systems.

  • ✅ Proficient in English with excellent communication skills.

  • ✅ Computer literate, proficient in MS Office Suite.

  • ✅ Access to reliable transport (as the site is in a remote area with no public transport).

Eligibility for Appointment:

  • 🏆 Aged 35 or younger at the time of application.

  • 🏆 South African citizenship.

  • 🏆 A valid driver’s license is a must.
