JOB OVERVIEW
Arup is seeking an experienced Energy Project Manager to strengthen its growing Energy Business in South Africa. The role focuses on delivering complex renewable and energy infrastructure projects by providing disciplined, end-to-end project management while enabling technical specialists to perform at their best.
The successful candidate will manage projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring strong stakeholder alignment, risk management, cost control, quality assurance, and compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and manage comprehensive project execution plans

Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams to achieve project objectives

Lead stakeholder engagement with clients, authorities, communities, and contractors

Manage scope, schedule, cost, procurement, risk, and integration activities

Ensure compliance with design standards, permits, safety, and environmental obligations
-
Monitor project progress and provide clear reporting to senior leadership
-
Implement quality management systems and continuous improvement practices
-
Support construction oversight and delivery excellence across energy projects
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)

Master’s degree in Engineering or Project Management (advantageous)
Experience
-
Proven project management experience in the energy sector
-
Exposure to renewable energy projects such as wind, solar, transmission, and distribution
-
End-to-end project delivery experience within the built environment
Skills
-
Strong project controls and stakeholder management capability

Solid technical understanding of energy systems and infrastructure

Risk, cost, and schedule management expertise

Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills
-
Professional certifications such as PMP, CEM, SACPCMP, or equivalent (required/advantageous)
