Are you a recent graduate in Engineering or the Built Environment field looking to kickstart your career? eThekwini Municipality is offering a valuable Graduate and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Internship Programme for 2025/2026 that provides practical work experience and professional development opportunities in one of South Africa’s leading metropolitan municipalities.
This is your chance to gain hands-on training and skills across a variety of engineering and built environment disciplines—all while earning a monthly stipend and making an impact on public infrastructure and development.
📍 Location:
eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
🕒 Duration:

18 months (TVET students with N6 qualification)
-
24 months (University graduates)
💰 Monthly Stipend:
R2 661.68 – R8 093.01, depending on your qualification level
🔍 Programme Overview
The Work Experience Programme is aimed at unemployed graduates and TVET students who require workplace-based experience to complete their qualifications. Interns will work under the Outreach & Capacity Building Department, within the Community Development Projects Branch, and report directly to a Project Manager.
Interns will gain real-world exposure in municipal infrastructure development, engineering project support, town planning, construction management, and more.

⚠️ TVET candidates must hold an N6 and require WIL (Work Integrated Learning) for Nated Diploma completion.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:

Be South African citizens
-
Possess a recognized qualification, not older than 5 years
-
Have no prior participation in any internship, learnership, or work experience programme (government or private sector) for 12 months or more

Be unemployed and available for the full internship duration

Reapply if previously applied (past applications will not be reconsidered)
