Who Should Apply?

To be eligible for this learnership, applicants must:

  • Be an unemployed South African youth residing in one of the following designated host communities:

    • Bekkersdaal

    • Zuurberkom

    • Thusanang

    • Hillshaven

    • Westonaria

    • Poortjie

    • Simunye

    • Kalbasfontein

    • Jachtfontein

  • Have completed Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science

  • Possess a full N2 qualification including these trade-specific subjects:

    • Engineering Mathematics

    • Engineering Science

    • N2 Rigging Trade Theory

    • Engineering Drawing

  • Be medically fit as per Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre standards

  • Successfully pass the Heat Tolerance Screening Test and other mine-specific assessments


Learnership Details

Programme: Engineering Learnership – Rigger / Ropesman
Training: Combination of technical external courses and workplace practical training
Certification: Artisan qualification upon successful completion


Key Responsibilities

  • Attend all prescribed technical and practical training modules set by MQA

  • Participate actively in all short courses required by the mine

  • Maintain consistent and high performance throughout the learnership

  • Regularly seek feedback for continuous development

  • Comply with all company policies, especially regarding health and safety

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently
