Job Overview
Tiger Brands is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee maintenance operations and asset performance at its Hennenman manufacturing facility.
This role is responsible for ensuring optimal plant efficiency, managing engineering teams, overseeing capital projects, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement within the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement asset management strategies
- Conduct plant inspections, audits, and performance reporting
- Manage maintenance budgets, expenditure, and cost control
- Oversee procurement, supplier management, and inventory control
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance and tender processes
- Implement and maintain health, safety, and environmental standards
- Lead risk assessments and ensure adherence to OHSA regulations
- Manage engineering teams, training, and succession planning
- Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
- Oversee capital projects, maintenance shutdowns, and installations
- Monitor maintenance systems and improve planning and scheduling
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure integrated decision-making
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC – Factories)
- Professional Engineer certification (Pr Eng or equivalent)
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar engineering environment
- At least 2 years’ experience as a GCC Factory Engineer
Skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Advanced asset and maintenance management expertise
- Financial management and budgeting skills
- Knowledge of OHSA Act 85/1993 and machinery regulations
- Project management and capital project execution
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence
