JOB OVERVIEW

The Engineering Technician is responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance, general repairs, and cleaning of guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces. The role ensures that all hotel facilities meet Marriott’s quality, safety, and operational standards while supporting a positive guest experience through efficient maintenance and service delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public areas

• Inspect, flip, and maintain mattresses, box springs, and bed frames

• Conduct general room maintenance including vacuuming, dusting, spot cleaning, and touch-up painting

• Maintain and repair bathroom fixtures, grout, caulking, lighting, and hardware

• Carry out minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, tightening fittings, and patching walls

• Ensure all appliances and equipment are functional and properly installed

• Report serious maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual findings immediately

• Follow preventive maintenance checklists and quality inspection standards

• Maintain building safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness

• Assist with lifting, moving, and carrying equipment and materials

• Support team members and maintain positive working relationships

• Uphold guest service standards and respond professionally to guest needs

• Follow health, safety, and hazardous material handling procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Experience

• Some experience in general maintenance, repairs, and surface preparation

• Hotel engineering or hospitality maintenance experience is advantageous

Licences / Certification

• Valid Driver’s Licence

Skills

• General maintenance and repair skills

• Knowledge of safety procedures and PPE usage

• Ability to follow preventative maintenance schedules

• Physical fitness and correct lifting techniques

• Attention to detail and quality standards

• Good communication and teamwork skills
