Job Overview

The Enrolled Nurse – Theatre will work within the operating theatre, assisting in surgical procedures and ensuring safe, efficient patient care throughout the peri-operative phase.

This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to healthcare protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Practice within the scope of an Enrolled Nurse.

• Maintain accurate and compliant patient and medical records.

• Assist in the induction and maintenance of anaesthesia during procedures.

• Ensure accurate billing of drugs and consumables used in theatre.

• Properly use, maintain, and store theatre equipment.

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in theatre and related areas.

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.

• Deliver safe and high-quality patient care in the operating room.

• Maintain efficiency in nursing documentation and record keeping.

Qualifications

Education

• Matric (Grade 12) – Essential

• Registered qualification as an Enrolled Nurse – Essential

Experience

• Minimum 2+ years experience in a theatre/operating room environment

Skills

• Registration with SANC as an Enrolled Nurse

• Knowledge of peri-operative nursing practices

• Strong attention to detail and record keeping

• Ability to work under pressure in a surgical environment

• Understanding of infection control and safety protocols

• Computer literacy

• Flexibility to work long hours and shifts
