Job Overview

The Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (ENA) in the Medical Ward is responsible for delivering safe, basic nursing care within the defined Scope of Practice. The role supports registered nurses and the broader multidisciplinary team in maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

This position is suited to a compassionate and detail-oriented nursing professional committed to quality care and compliance with nursing legislation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver basic nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team

  • Identify, prevent, and report clinical and environmental risks

  • Assist in creating a therapeutic and patient-centred environment

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records

  • Participate in staff learning and development initiatives

  • Ensure accurate charting of utilised stock and equipment


Qualifications

Education

Essential:

  • Higher Certificate in Nursing (or equivalent qualification)

Desirable:

  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses in relevant speciality areas


Experience

Essential:

  • None required

Desirable:

  • 1 year post-qualification experience


Skills

  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) competency

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

  • Understanding of Scope of Practice regulations for Nurses and Midwives

  • Knowledge of relevant nursing legislation

  • Application of the scientific nursing process

  • Risk identification and patient safety awareness

  • Competency in nursing procedures

  • Strong patient observation skills
