📌 Role Overview

Lactalis South Africa is seeking a dedicated and detail-driven Finance Accountant to join the Finance Department at its Stellenbosch office. This role is central to the company’s financial function and involves managing fixed assets, insurance administration, audit preparation, month-end processes, reporting, and providing financial support to other Lactalis Africa regions.
The successful candidate will play an active role in enhancing financial systems, improving processes, and driving business efficiency through strong analytical and project management capabilities.

✨ Key Responsibilities

📊 Fixed Assets Management

• Maintain and manage full Fixed Assets Registers, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance.

• Process all fixed asset transactions including acquisitions, disposals, capitalisations, transfers, and write-offs.

• Conduct depreciation calculations, asset verification, and reconciliation to general ledger.

• Support annual asset budgeting and forecasting cycles.

• Ensure compliance with tax legislation related to assets.

🏗️ CAPEX & Investment Tracking

• Process all CAPEX transactions in line with internal policies.

• Track project spend, monitor savings, and prepare CAPEX reports for management review.

• Support business units in ensuring correct classification and capitalisation of projects.

🛡️ Insurance Administration

• Monitor insurance claims and ensure accurate reporting.

• Co-ordinate monthly insurance payments, confirmations, and related documentation.

• Manage the processing of month-end insurance journals.

• Ensure accuracy of vehicle insurance schedules and queries.

📅 Month-End & Financial Processes

• Prepare and post journals relating to fixed assets, insurance, and other month-end schedules.

• Perform key reconciliations including asset accounts, insurance accounts, and project-related ledgers.

• Assist with monthly management and corporate reporting for local and Africa regions.

🌍 Support for African Markets

• Provide reporting assistance, systems support, and process guidance to Lactalis Africa entities.

• Ensure alignment with group reporting standards and financial controls.

🧾 Audit Preparation

• Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, insurance, and relevant balance sheet accounts.

• Engage with auditors, address queries, and ensure timely completion of year-end audits.

🔧 Systems & Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve financial controls.

• Contribute to documenting and updating standard operating procedures.

• Lead or support financial process improvement projects.

📁 Project Management & Documentation

• Support various finance-related projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality expectations.

• Maintain clear, logical documentation for processes, approvals, and policy compliance.

🎓 Minimum Requirements

📘 Qualifications

• B.Comm / B.Com Honours or equivalent.

🧠 Experience & Skills

• 3–5 years’ experience in a similar finance or accounting role.

• Strong technical knowledge of fixed assets (accounting and tax).

• ERP system expertise (SAP, Oracle, or similar).

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

• Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage KPIs and drive process efficiency.

• Strong project management and people management competencies.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

• Proactive mindset and ability to take initiative.
