Job Overview

The Finance Accountant: Statutory & Account Management role is responsible for ensuring accurate statutory reporting, trust accounting, governance compliance, and audit readiness for designated group entities. The role supports trusts and foundations through financial oversight, board reporting, budgeting, and compliance with IFRS and internal control frameworks.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory financial statements

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and group statutory reporting requirements

  • Review trial balances, financial statement notes, and annual financial statements

  • Approve and record transactions in ERP systems in line with RACM controls

  • Facilitate statutory audits and implement corrective action plans

  • Coordinate trust administration activities and prepare Board and committee packs

  • Support annual budgeting processes and provide financial insights to trustees

  • Manage dividend calculations, beneficiary reconciliations, and payment processing

  • Maintain governance documentation, RACM narratives, and self-assessments

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation of new accounting standards


Qualifications

🎓 Education

  • BCom Honours Degree in Accounting or Financial Management (required)

  • Chartered Accountant (SA) – CA(SA) (required)

💼 Experience

  • 4–5 years post-qualification experience in financial management

  • Experience in statutory reporting and financial statement preparation

  • Exposure to trust accounting or employee share trust administration (advantageous)

  • Experience with RACM and audit compliance frameworks

🧠 Skills

  • Strong IFRS and statutory reporting expertise

  • Advanced financial analysis and problem-solving skills

  • High attention to detail and precision in reconciliations

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

  • Ability to meet tight reporting deadlines

  • Experience preparing board packs and liaising with auditors
