Job Overview: Finance Clerk

As a Finance Clerk at Premier, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with internal controls, and effective stock management. This position is perfect for individuals with 1-2 years of finance or administrative experience looking to grow in the finance industry. You will support various financial functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll administration, ensuring the companyโ€™s financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a Finance Clerk will include:

๐Ÿ“Š Financial Reporting & Compliance:

  • Ensure accurate financial reporting by recording and reporting all transactions.
  • Maintain compliance with internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Prepare month-end accruals and balance intercompany loan accounts.
  • Generate stock variance reports, open payables, and debtors age analysis.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Stock Management:

  • Implement and report on stock management controls to prevent theft and misappropriation of company assets.
  • Support asset management by ensuring stock reconciliation processes are followed.

๐Ÿ’ต Payroll & Accounts Management:

  • Process transactions related to debtors, creditors, and payroll.
  • Maintain accurate financial data and assist the Site Accountant with outsourced labor cost management.
  • Help drive cost management improvements, focusing on waste management and cost-saving initiatives.

๐Ÿ“… Cost Tracking & Reporting:

  • Track and report waste and conversion rates per site, ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines and budget.
  • Participate in Invocoms and provide guidance on cost savings opportunities.

๐Ÿ“‚ Record Keeping & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate filing and recordkeeping processes for all finance-related documents.
  • Ensure SOP control points are tracked and reported efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the Finance Clerk role, you must meet the following qualifications and experience:

๐ŸŽ“ Qualifications:

  • Matric (Essential)
  • Financial Diploma or equivalent (Essential)
  • Financial Degree (Preferred)

๐Ÿ’ผ Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in finance or administration
  • Exposure to bookkeeping principles and financial controls relevant to FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods)
  • Experience with payroll processing, accruals, and variance analysis techniques.

Skills and Competencies

To succeed in this role, you will need the following skills and competencies:

  • Advanced Excel skills for financial reporting and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of stock reconciliation and financial controls.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all financial tasks.

  • Knowledge of payroll processing and accruals processing.
  • Understanding of variance analysis techniques.

  • Strong organizational and filing skills to maintain accurate records.
  • The ability to work weekends if required.
