🎯 Role Purpose

The Learner – Trainee Finance role offers a valuable opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain practical exposure within a corporate finance environment. The trainee will provide end-to-end administrative, coordination, and reporting support to the assigned finance function while developing strong foundational knowledge of Bayobab’s financial operations and governance frameworks.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking long-term careers in finance, accounting, financial management, auditing, or corporate governance.


🛠️ Key Responsibilities & Performance Areas

📊 Strategic & Finance Support

  • 🧠 Provide input into strategic and finance-related meetings as required

  • 🔄 Support enterprise-wide transformation and finance initiatives

  • 📌 Contribute to internal and global finance projects

  • 📑 Prepare documentation for approvals and decision-making processes

  • ⚠️ Escalate risks impacting cost, scope, timelines, or resources

🗂️ Administrative & Coordination Duties

  • 📅 Coordinate ad hoc meetings with internal and external stakeholders

  • 🧾 Provide full administrative support to the finance department

  • 🗃️ Plan, organise, and track departmental activities

  • ⌨️ Type and format finance reports according to MTN standards

📑 Reporting, Risk & Governance

  • 📈 Compile ad hoc and periodic finance reports

  • 📊 Submit accurate progress and status reports to line management

  • 🛡️ Support risk mitigation, internal controls, and compliance activities

  • 📜 Assist with governance policies, procedures, and documentation

📚 Content, Knowledge & Stakeholder Engagement

  • 🎨 Research, develop, and quality-check presentations

  • 🧮 Assist with performance metrics and management reporting

  • 🤝 Liaise with cross-functional teams and external vendors

  • 📂 Maintain finance knowledge bases and documentation

🎓 Minimum Requirements

📚 Education

🎓 Relevant 3- or 4-year Degree or Diploma in:

  • Finance

  • Accounting

  • Financial Management

  • Business Management

  • Economics or related field

💼 Experience

🧑‍💼 0–2 years’ work experience (graduate-level exposure acceptable)
