The Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) is offering a 24-month Financial Accounting Internship at its Head Office in Midrand, Waterfall. This is an excellent opportunity for South African graduates with a National Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields to gain practical, hands-on experience in a real-world setting.

Key Responsibilities

As a Financial Accounting Intern, you will:

💼 Assist with Financial Reporting

  • Support the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Help with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

📊 Support Financial Audits and Controls

  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring financial records are accurate and in compliance with regulations.
  • Help maintain and manage accounting records, including invoices, payments, and receipts.

📑 Manage Accounting Documentation

  • Assist in reconciling accounts, tracking expenditures, and ensuring that financial transactions are properly documented.
  • Support the processing of financial transactions, including bank reconciliations and account verifications.

🗂 Collaborate with the Finance Team

  • Work closely with senior financial staff to assist in budget preparation and analysis.
  • Participate in financial analysis and forecasting to support decision-making processes.

Programme Requirements

📜 Qualifications

  • A National Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A Postgraduate Qualification in Accounting or Finance will be advantageous.

🇿🇦 Eligibility Criteria

  • South African Citizenship is required.
  • First-time internship participants: Applicants must not have participated in any internship programme at any public or private institution before.

    • Certified copies of your Identity Document
    • Certified copies of your qualifications
    • A certified copy of your academic record, reflecting a 65% average in your final year of study
    • SAQA accreditation (if applicable for foreign qualifications)
