📈 About the Internship Programme
eDumbe Municipality is inviting applications for its Financial Internship Programme for 2025. This exciting opportunity is designed for unemployed graduates from the local community looking to kickstart their careers in finance and accounting.
Over a 24-month period, interns will receive hands-on exposure to critical finance functions in the local government sector, focusing on municipal finance management and public sector compliance. The programme offers invaluable experience in various areas including budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, and compliance with MFMA (Municipal Finance Management Act).
✅ Who Should Apply?
This internship is ideal for young, motivated individuals who meet the following criteria:
✔️ South African citizen between 18 and 35 years old
✔️ Unemployed with no prior work experience
✔️ Hold a Grade 12 certificate with Accountancy
✔️ Have a National Certificate in Accounting, BCom Degree, or National Diploma in Financial Management (NQF Level 6)
✔️ Strong computer literacy and communication skills
✔️ Preference given to local residents, women, and persons with disabilities
🏅 Key Responsibilities
Interns will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and gain exposure to a variety of important tasks, including:
📊 Implementing GAMAP/GRAP standards
💵 Assisting with budget preparation and VAT management
📈 Preparing monthly and annual financial statements
📉 Performance reporting, expenditure & revenue management
📑 Exposure to procurement, supply chain management, and compliance with the MFMA
🔍 Participation in policy development and project/risk management
This internship is an excellent gateway to understanding the complex financial systems in local government and contributing to the development of eDumbe Municipality.
