Job Overview

Capitec is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer (Level 2) to support and enhance client-facing applications used in bank branches.

The role focuses on developing and maintaining branch systems such as biometric solutions, queuing systems, monitoring platforms, and paperless services. Engineers will work with a hybrid technology stack including C#, Java, AWS, and modern web technologies to ensure high-quality digital banking experiences.

The successful candidate will collaborate with development teams to deliver reliable software solutions while supporting ongoing system improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

Develop and maintain branch-facing applications and systems
Support existing banking applications and contribute to new feature development
Work with hybrid technology stacks including C#, Java, and web technologies
Ensure applications meet high-quality standards

Collaboration and Delivery

Work closely with development teams to deliver project objectives
Participate in Agile ceremonies and team meetings
Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes

System Support

Handle production issues and system support tasks
Ensure branch systems operate efficiently and reliably
Work from a prioritised development backlog

Service Delivery

Ensure consistent high-quality service delivery
Support the modernization of branch technologies
Contribute to system stability and performance improvements

Minimum Experience

3–4 years of experience in software development
Strong experience with C# programming
Experience working with AWS cloud services
Exposure to Java and web technologies
Full stack development experience preferred
Backend-focused developers with strong experience may also be considered

Qualifications

Grade 12 (Matric)
Relevant IT qualification, such as:
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Software Engineering
- Related technical field

Interpersonal and relationship management
Ability to collaborate within technical teams
