The Functional HR Manager plays a key advisory role within the Infrastructure PPC Unit, ensuring that HR strategies, policies, and talent solutions align with business objectives. This is a strategic and operational roleβideal for an experienced HR professional who thrives on partnership, transformation, and people-centred leadership.
π― Role Overview
As a Functional HR Manager, you will act as the primary HR partner to your assigned Business Units, providing expert support in talent management, performance development, learning, HR strategy, and organisational effectiveness.
You will translate Business Unit goals into HR initiatives, ensure compliance with labour legislation, foster a collaborative people culture, and drive high-impact HR projects. This role also serves as a Learning Business Partner, linking BU needs with the Learning & Development function.
Your work will directly influence leadership effectiveness, employee experience, transformation outcomes, and overall business performance.

π Strategic HR & Business Partnering

Maintain deep knowledge of KPMGβs strategy, PPC frameworks, and industry trends.

Provide input to the HR strategy for the Business Unit.

Translate strategic priorities into operational HR plans.

Integrate HR strategy into BU objectives to enable organisational excellence.

π₯ HR Advisory & Compliance

Ensure compliance with labour legislation, HR policies, and organisational governance.

Manage employee relations and provide guidance to managers.

Support all HR deadlines, reporting cycles, and compliance requirements.

Maintain a positive, inclusive, high-performance work environment.
π Learning & Development Partnership

Serve as the Learning Business Partner for the BU.

Communicate training needs to L&D teams and ensure alignment.

Facilitate information flow between BU leaders and the learning function.
π Data, Reporting & Insights

Analyse BU people data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Provide insights that enable proactive decision-making.

Drive financial management and budgeting processes within the HR function.
π€ Stakeholder & People Experience Management

Ensure a consistent HR experience for colleagues and leadership.

Promote the firmβs transformation agenda and alignment with national frameworks.

π Minimum Requirements
π Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Social Sciences, or related field.

Registration with HPCSA, SABPP, IPD, FASSET or similar bodies is advantageous.
πΌ Experience

Minimum 5 years of HR generalist experience.
-
Minimum 2 years in an HR management-level role.

Strong understanding of HR methodologies, models, strategies, and the HR value chain.
-
Knowledge of labour relations, skills development frameworks, B-BBEE, and regulatory HR requirements.
